Custom Domain in Blogger with Godaddy

Step By Step Instructions/Tutorial for hosting your godaddy domain in blogger

A professional blog must be hosted in a own domain name (yourblog.com). The following steps help you to configure your DNS Records of your domain to get hosted in Blogger. This is valid with most of the registrars, although i explain here with Godaddy.

Step1 or thumb rule : Never Publish your blog in own domain with out configuring DNS records

Step 2: Log In into your Godaddy Account and click My Domains in the first tab. It will pop out to a new window and displays all your domains.

Step 3: Click on the domain that you want to modify the DNS Records and you will get Total DNS Control Page.

Steo 4: Click Name servers which are in blue and give host domain here and then click ok.

Step 5: Wait for few minutes and click GO in the top which is next to your domain name and then you will get a page like this. ( By clicking go it refresh the page without sending any login informations instead of clicking refresh while logged in)

Step 6: Click on the Total DNS Control and MX Records in the bottom. and then you will get a page like this.

Step 7: Just give the A record and CNAME alias as follows or you can click on the image above and type the same

mephisblog.info. 3600 IN A 216.239.32.21
mephisblog.info. 3600 IN A 216.239.34.21
mephisblog.info. 3600 IN A 216.239.36.21
mephisblog.info. 3600 IN A 216.239.38.21

Create two new CNAME Records as follows

www ghs.google.com
. ghs.google.com

Now the Goaddy Part is over.

Step 8: Now Log In into your blogger account and go to settings -> Publishing ->
Click Custom Domain -> Switch to Advanced Settings and you will get a page like this

(click on the image to enalrge)

Step 9: Give your domain name and click redirect -> Answer the captcha and save your settings.

Step 10: Now click "View Blog" and now your blog is ready in your own domain name.

  9. I have followed the info on Blogger for ANAME and CNAME for my custom blog. However, my site is down and Blogger didn't mention anything else to do.

In Step 4, you mention "Click Name servers which are in blue and give host domain here and then click ok."

Well, I don't know what "give host domain here" means. From Blogger's directions, they are hosting my site. However, the name servers are coming up as the problem because my site is down and my diagnostic panel is asking where I am hosting it.

So, do I use the same 4 ANAME IPS addresses for the name servers? If not, what should I do?

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Jeffrey,

    1. If you are using Godaddy services, Please select the option - I have a hosting account with this domain.

    2. Then after sometime click "Total DNS Server" to name your CNAME servers and @ records.

Still have problems?? Let me know, I will write a new tutorial, since godaddy cpanel has changed a lot these days.

Thanks and keep visiting my blog.

    Sy
