Bravehost - It has both free and paid hosting services. Like Wordpress they also show ads in free hosted blogs. But in paid hosting it is not so great package. Paid hosting service package is just like a normal hosting service. Moreover their layout doestn't looks so great. It is pretty boring. But the webmaster tools they provide are very good. I recommend them only for newbies and people who are new to blogging.
Typepad - A great blogging platform both for newbies and for professional bloggers. They have a huge range of templates for your blogs. Easy to use interface and catchy, simple layouts. If you would like to earn some money from your blog, they itself provide those options through their own social media marketing tool. Although if you would like to earn more cash, i do not recommend them, because most of the blog marketing giants like PayPerPost do not give 90% of the opportunities to blogs hosted here.
Xanga - A good platform fo personal blogs. People can upload their videos, photos, music and share with their friends & family easily over here. The worst thing is they publish Google Ads in your blog. The owner of the blog do not have the full control of their blog page. This is ridiculous. No javascipts nor HTML are supported here. So there are no widgets and no opportunity to earn money here while blogging. But great platform for newbies.
Vox - Another blogging platform of the type typepad and from the same company. It is pretty similar to Typepad. HTML & Java Scripts are supported. Bloggers can host their ads.
Not Recommend for professional bloggers.
